Meeting report

The Chairperson welcomed all present and made brief introductory remarks. Apologies were heard.

The Chairperson said that today marks an important day for the state as on this day, in 1994, Nelson Mandela was inaugurated as South Africa's first black President. South Africa needed to honour the people who struggled for this and ensure that the country remained a democratic state. We need to uphold a South Africa that is non-sexist, non-racial, united and prosperous. The Committee should keep this in mind when looking at the budget votes.
