Tabled Committee Reports

The Committee met virtually to adopt the motion of desirability and the Committee Report on the 2021 Division of Revenue Bill [B3-2021]. The Bill was deemed desirable and the motion was adopted by the Committee. The Committee Report in support of the Division of Revenue Bill was also adopted. The DA and EFF objected to both the motion of desirability and the Committee Report on the Bill.

Meeting report

The Chairperson welcomed the Members and asked if they are any apologies.

The Committee Secretary advised the Chairperson that Mr E Marais (DA) had tender his apology as his was not feeling well.

Motion on Desirability: Division of Revenue Bill B3-2021

The Committee agreed the Bill was desirable and adopted the motion of desirability.

Objections were received from Mr A Sarupen (DA) and Mr N Ntlangwini (EFF).

The Chairperson declared the motion adopted.

Report of the Standing Committee on Appropriations on the Division of Revenue Bill [B3 –2021] (National Assembly – Section 76)

The Chairperson presented the draft report to Members and requested they go through the report page-by-page and see if they are any areas that need corrections.

The Committee Secretary advised the Chairperson that there were some minor technical corrections in that draft report being shown on the screen in track changes. These were made by National Treasury.

Mr O Mathafa (ANC) asked if there were any matters from the amandla.mobi submission which needed to be incorporated into the Committee report.

The Committee Secretary responded that it does not require incorporation as Members were merely asking questions of clarity. Members suggested that there should perhaps be a follow up discussion with amandla.mobi and others.

The Chairperson agreed it was for future engagement.

The Committee Report on the 2021 Division of Revenue Bill was adopted with objections from the DA and EFF.

The Chairperson declared that the report has been adopted. The report would now be ATC’d.

Consideration and adoption of minutes

The Committee considered and adopted its minutes dated 5, 9 and 10 March 2021.

Other Business

The Chairperson advised Members that the debate on the 2021 Division of Revenue Bill would take place on Friday, 19 March 2021.
