Gauteng Provincial Government on its COVID-19 response plan: postponed

Meeting report

The Chairperson notified the Committee that the delegation from the Gauteng Provincial Government sent a note to the Committee stating it would be meeting as the Provincial Executive. The Provincial Government was dealing with the urgent matters that were occurring in the province with urgency. That meeting was also starting at six o’clock. The Gauteng Provincial Government asked the Committee for a new date for it to appear before the Committee.

The Members of the Portfolio Committee highlighted their disappointment and concern that the Gauteng Provincial Government wanted to postpone the meeting. It was unacceptable. The Members were also upset that the apology had been sent in so late. The Members of the Committee hoped the extra time given to the Gauteng Provincial Government would help it provide appropriate answers to its COVID-19 response plans. This matter was of urgency and the Committee would ask the House Chairperson to schedule another meeting with the Gauteng Provincial Government.
