CONSTITUTIONAL REVIEW COMMITTEE

CONSTITUTIONAL REVIEW COMMITTEE
26 June 2003
ANNUAL REPORT 2002: CONSIDERATION

Chairperson: Adv S Holomisa (ANC)

Document handed out
Constitutional Review Committee 2002 Annual Report

SUMMARY
A quorum was not constituted and the Committee could therefore not formally consider its 2002 Annual Report. The Chairperson proposed certain technical amendments and ruled that the Report would be considered after the July recess.

MINUTES
The Chair noted that there were not enough Members present to constitute a quorum. He nevertheless proposed that the Annual Report for 2002 (document attached) be adopted by the Committee and forwarded to Parliament.

Mr P Smith (IFP) said that he did not think the Committee could adopt the Report if a quorum had not been constituted. This Committee could either call in members and vote on the Report, or the meeting would have to be postponed.

Mr J Jeffrey (ANC) agreed.

Mr Smith reiterated his earlier proposal that the consideration of the Report be postponed until the next term.

The Chair proposed certain technical amendments to the Report. He noted that members had agreed with Mr Smith's proposal, and that the Report would be considered further during Parliament's Third Session.

The meeting was adjourned.
