Committee Report on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Budget
Meeting Summary
The Committee gave the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) 14 days to respond with written responses on the issues raised by the Committee on the Annual Performance Plan (APP) for 2017/18. The Department was also requested to provide written responses on issues raised in the 2016/17 financial year which had not been responded to. The Committee adopted the report on Budget Vote 24, with amendments.
Meeting report
The Chairperson said that the meeting would be very short because Members has to attend the budget votes of the respective departments.
Mr C Mathale (ANC) said that the Department had to provide the strategies it was going to put in place to ensure that more black students were recruited into the veterinary sciences profession.
Ms A Steyn (DA) requested the Chairperson to enquire about the responses from the Deputy Minister on the funding issues raised at the previous meeting. She suggested that the Committee meet with the Appropriations Committee to address this.
The Chairperson asked the Members to go through the report and make suggestions and amendments.
Mr M Filtane (UDM) suggested that all matters addressing funding issues be put in chronological order so that the report was coherent. He moved the adoption of the report.
Mr Mathale seconded the adoption of the report with amendments.
The report was adopted.
The meeting was adjourned.
