Relevant Document:
Competition Second Amendment Bill [B41B-2000]

Chairperson: Mr Moosa

SUMMARY
The Committee adopted the Competition Second Amendment Bill as amended by the Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry.

MINUTES
The meeting started approximately 30 minutes later than scheduled due to Members arriving late, something that angered Chairperson Moosa. He proposed to cancel the meeting without finalising the Bill. However, through the advice of other Members, he decided otherwise.

Before the Committee could vote on the Bill, Mr Gideon Hoon, State Law Adviser, proposed the following merely technical amendments:

Clause 1: Amendment of section 1 of Act 89 of 1998
On page 3, from line 21, to omit "(b) or "(c)" and to substitute "or (b)

Clause 2: Amendment of section 3 of Act 89 of 1998
On page 3, in line 56, to omit "81" and to substitute "82"

The Chairperson proposed voting on the Bill in the absence of further amendments. The Committee voted and agreed unanimously with the Bill, as amended by the Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry.
