NYDA Board candidates: Security check & verification of qualifications findings and deliberations

Meeting report

The Ad Hoc Joint Committee on Appointment of Board Members to the National Youth Development Agency agreed to postpone the deliberations on the findings and verification of the qualifications of candidates to serve on the Board of the National Youth Development Agency. The reason for the postponement was because there was no quorum and the meeting was badly coordinated. Some Members came late and were in and out of the Committee room. The Chairperson then suggested the co-option of other non-Members to the Committee so as to make a quorum, but she noted consultations were going to be needed to check the legalities of co-opting other non-Members to the Committee because, according to the rules, when appointing candidates to a Board, the Members of the concerned Committee should remain the same until the process was completed for the sake of consistency. The next meeting is penciled for 24 May 2016.
