The Committee briefly discussed what issues they would like to see raised at the hearings. In terms of the BoTT program, the Committee expressed an interest in evaluating the program's effectiveness. BoTT was designed to speed up the delivery of water services and the committee would like to know how much progress has been made in this regard.

With respect to the hearings on consultants, the Chair, Ms B Sonjica (ANC) stated that the Committee needs to question the procedures that are followed when tenders are awarded by the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry (DWAF). Is it the case as it was mentioned in a previous briefing that black consultants are excluded and marginalized in the tendering process? The Committee would also like to know how the Department is doing with respect to its requirements to the Preferential Procurement Act.

The Chair then adjourned the meeting.
