Shortlist of Candidates for appointment to the South African National Space Agency

Meeting report

Introduction by Chairperson
The Chairperson invited Committee Members with any input or reservations regarding the shortlist to come forward. He reaffirmed that the Committee had to approve a minimum of five names from the shortlist and also conveyed the Minister’s opposition to Parliament’s interference with the appointment process of board members.

Discussion
Mr M Nonkonyana (ANC) suggested that the Committee should adopt the shortlist (of 13 candidates) devoid of any amendments in order to provide the Minister with an ample amount of candidates to choose his (five) preferred candidates from.

The Chairperson read the report and listed all the recommended candidates. The following names were read:

The report was unanimously adopted by the Committee without any amendments.
