The Committee unanimously elected Mr V Smith (ANC) and Ms M Boroto (ANC) as co-Chairpersons of the Committee. The former represented the National Assembly and the latter the National Council of Provinces.
Meeting report
Election of ChairpersonsMs Jessie Shonhiwa, Committee Secretary informed Members that the agenda for the meeting was the selection of Chairpersons- one would come from the National Assembly (NA) and the other from the National Council of Provinces (NCOP).
Ms Shonhiwa opened the floor for nominations of the NA

This was seconded by Mr D Bloem (COPE;
Ms Shonhiwa opened the floor for nominations of the NCOP Co-Chairperson.
Ms B Ncube (ANC) nominated Ms M Boroto (ANC;
This was seconded by Mr Bloem.
Ms Shonhiwa confirmed that Mr Smith and Ms Boroto were the new co-chairpersons.
Mr Smith and Ms Boroto thanked the Members for their selection and attendance.
Ms Ntwanambi proposed that meetings should be held after hours not during the day to allow Members to attend other meetings and to avoid schedule clashes.
Mr Bloem replied that he could not afford to attend meetings at night due to family responsibilities.
Ms Boroto replied that meetings time would be determined by the programme and work at hand during that time.
The meeting was adjourned.
