Meeting Summary

The Committee considered and adopted all the minutes of its previous meetings. Members decided not to approve the Committee’s Sessional Report as they still had to review the document- it would be adopted at the next meeting.

Meeting report

The Chairperson indicated that the meeting would be brief as the Committee would be considering 5 outstanding minutes and a report on its activities for the final term of the year.

Outstanding Minutes
The Chairperson tabled four sets of minutes for consideration. These were dated 8 June, 15 August, 18 and 25 October 2011.

The Committee went through each minute individually and approved all of them without any changes.

The Chairperson then tabled the minutes dated 15 November 2011 for consideration.

Mr D Bloem (COPE; Free State) moved for the adoption of the minutes.

Mr A Matila (ANC; Gauteng) seconded the proposal but added that there was an omission concerning the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), the Committee had agreed that it would open an investigation with the Directorate of Priority Crimes Investigations (DPCI). The minutes had to reflect the report that was adopted by the Committee.

The minutes were adopted unanimously with the proposed amendment.

Sessional Report on Activities of Committee October-December 2011
Mr Bloem said that the Committee had to go through the document first and then adopt it.

Mr Matila agreed and added that the Committee should note that it had received it and then adopt it in the next meeting.

The Committee agreed.

Meeting adjourned.
