Committee Report on the Legal Aid Guide 2011
The Chairperson tabled the draft report of the Committee on the Legal Aid Guide 2011 (12th Edition) for consideration (see attached document).
Ms D Schafer (DA) suggested that paragraph 2.1 of the report be amended by deleting the words “if, for example, this were to be the only means of income available to him or her”.
Mr S Swart (ACDP) suggested that the word “the” be inserted in paragraph 2.1. The sentence to read “The Committee, however, is concerned that the application of the test ….”
Members agreed to the suggested amendments.
Mr Swart moved for the adoption of the report. The motion was seconded by Ms L Adams (COPE). There were no objections.
Members held an informal discussion on the issues that had to be dealt with by the Committee during the remainder of the current and the following session of Parliament. (This part of the proceedings was not monitored by PMG.)
The meeting was adjourned.
