SUMMARY
The meeting focused on the adoption of the final Report on the Arms Deal and the Portfolio Committee's forthcoming programme planning session for the year 2002 which will be drawn in tandem to this year's budget allocation during the first week of March 2002.

MINUTES
With respect to the Joint Investigation Report into the Arms Procurement Package, the Chairperson reminded Members that the approval by Parliament for the probe into the arms deal took place on 3 November 2000, not on the 2 November as mentioned in the report. Therefore the Report was adopted with an amendment.

In relation to the coming workshop the minority parties felt that, it is the most hectic week in their legislative agenda because it when they normally hold their Caucuses. It was finally resolved that Members should take up the issue with their respective Chief Whips and ask to be relieved in order to take part in the drafting of the programme of the Portfolio Committee for the year 2002.
