Meeting report

 

Candidates were asked the following questions:

The interviewees were asked to give a brief background about themselves (who they were and what they had achieved) in relation to the job they were applying for.

They were asked whether they felt their previous work experience was sufficient to qualify them for the task of being a Public Service Commissioner.

Interviewees were asked what they thought the function of the Public Service Commission was.
Candidates who were closely linked to a political party were asked how, if they were to become a Public Service Commissioner, they would ensure impartiality and objectivity.

Candidates were asked what they thought the difference was in mandate between the new Ministry of Performance, Monitoring, Evaluation and Administration and the Public Service Commission.

They were asked how they felt the Public Service Commission could complement the functions of the National Planning Commission.

Candidates were asked to name a few of the reports generated by the Public Service Commission and which of those they felt were the most important ones.

They were also asked to indicate what key challenges the Public Service Commission would encounter in the future.

Nominees were asked to explain the difference between the Public Service Commission and the Department of Public Service Administration.

The interviewers probed whether the candidates knew who the Public Service Commission reported to.
Candidates were asked which laws and prescripts governed the functioning of the Public Service Commission.

They were asked whether they thought the principles of co-operative governance applied to the Public Service Commission.
