DDISCUSSION ON STRATEGIC PLANNING WORKSHOP AND ADOPTION OF COMMITTEE'S ANNUAL REPORT 2002.

MINUTES
Discussion on Annual Report 2002:
 
Ms Dlulane requested that a column reflecting the number of apologies received be included in the statistics for attendance.
 
Mr A E van Niekerk proposed the adoption of the report and Ms B N Dlulane seconded this.
 
Discussion on the Strategic Planning Workshop:
 
It was decided that the one-hour slot for institutions should include 15 minutes of discussion.
 
Institutions should not only reflect on their successes but on the real problems facing them.
 
All Departments should get equal attention.
 
Departments should discuss their upcoming legislation, problems with the implementation of past legislation, as well as problem areas in general and action plans to overcome these.  They should indicate how they would like the Committee to interact with them.
 
It was felt that an invitation should be extended to SATOUR to attend the workshop.
 
The question of the scheduling of the DEAT workshop during a provincial week should be addressed at the planning session.
 
Mr B Thompson and Dr E A Conroy indicated that they would be unable to attend the session.
 
It was felt that the researcher, Ms S Dawood, should attend the strategic planning workshop.
 
Conclusion:
 
The Chairperson thanked members for their attendance and adjourned the meeting at 15:15.
