Standing Committee on Appropriations

The Standing Committee on Appropriations invites you to make written submissions on the Appropriaton Bill [B6-2019] as well as the proposed amendments and technical corrections. The Bill was tabled together with the 2019/20 budget on 20 February 2019.

The Money Bills Amendment Procedure and Related Matters Act, No 9 of 2009 requires Parliament to conduct public hearings and to report on the Appropriation Bill. This Bill appropriates money from the National Revenue Fund for the requirements of the State for the 2019/20 financial year; prescribes conditions for the spending of funds withdrawn for the 2020/21 financial year before the commencement of the Appropriation Act for the 2020/21 financial year; and provides for matters incidental thereto.

Furthermore, technical corrections were tabled by the Minister of Finance to give effect to the revised Cabinet portfolios as announced by the President of the Republic of South Africa on 29 May 2019 during his State of the Nation Address.

A joint meeting of the Standing and Select Committees on Appropriations is scheduled to hold public hearings on the 2019 Appropriations Bill [B6-2019] on Tuesday, 16 July 2019
