The Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs (National Assembly) invites you to submit written comments on the Civil Union Amendment Bill [B11-2018].

Purpose of the Bill
The purpose of the Civil Union Amendment Bill (the “Bill”) is to repeal section 6 of the Civil Union Act, 2006 (Act No. 17 of 2006), which allows a marriage officer in the employ of the State to inform the Minister of Home Affairs that he or she objects on the grounds of conscience, religion, and belief, to solemnising a civil union between persons of the same sex.
