The Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Government and Traditional Affairs is holding public hearings in the provinces about the Customary Initiation Bill starting tomorrow in Port Elizabeth.

The Bill is available here: Customary Initiation Bill [B7-2018]

The Customary Initiation Bill is intended to provide effective regulation of initiation schools, and generally circumstances around customary initiation. Most of South Africa’s tribes practice and still respect their respective initiation traditions.

The public hearings are scheduled to happen throughout the country over the next two weeks.

The programme is available here: Public Hearings on Customary Initiation Bill [B7-2018]

Issued by the Parliamentary Communication Services on behalf of the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Mr Richard Mdakane.
