Public Service Commission Amendment Draft Bill

The Department of Public Service and Administration has published the draft Public Service Commission Amendment Bill, and is asking you to comment.

Bill seeks to amend the Public Service Commission Act, 1997 so as to:
▪ align it with the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996;
▪ provide a framework contemplated in section 219(5) of the Constitution for the determination of salaries, allowances and benefits for Commissioners of the Commission,
▪ provide for a commissioner to act as the chairperson when both the chairperson and the deputy chairperson are absent;
▪ empower the Public Service Commission to give directions relating to the values and principles that govern public administration.
