Defence

The South African Defence Review 2014 is currently being processed by the Joint Standing Committee on Defence of the National Parliament. The Review provides a critical analysis of South Africa’s current defence policy and strategic environment. It aims to map defence direction on a strategic level over the next 20 to 30 years.

In order to allow for inputs from the public, in particular those who have not participated in consultation process in compiling the Defence Review, the Joint Standing Committee on Defence is calling for submissions on the iteration of the Defence Review as tabled in Parliament. In particular, the Committee invites submissions on Chapter 9: The Defence Strategic Trajectory. All submissions should clearly state the relevant chapter which is being referred to, the challenge identified and if possible, a proposed solution to the challenge.

Depending on the number and kind of submissions received, it is foreseen that Public Hearings will be held and you may be requested to present your submission in person to the Committee in early 2015.

Comments can be emailed to Ms Bulelwa Madikane to [email protected] by no later than Saturday, 7 February 2015 at 16:00

For Public hearings' dates and enquiries please contact Ms Bulelwa Madikane on tel (021) 403 2223

Late submissions will not be considered.
