Justice and Correctional Services

The Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development will hold hearings on the Legal Practice Bill [B20-2012] on 19-20 February 2013.

The Bill seeks to:
●Promote transformation & improve demographic representivity across the legal profession;
●Enhance the accessibility and affordability of legal services;
●Provide for the restructuring, unification and regulation of the legal profession;
●Ensure accountability of the legal profession; and
●Establish a Legal Ombud to protect the public interest, amongst other things.
Interested people who want to make comments and those who wish to make supplementary submissions are invited to do so by Tuesday, 12 February 2013.
