The Week Ahead: Debates & NCOP Committee Strategy Session

None

A busy and eclectic week of parliamentary action beckons.

The NCOP has scheduled a two-day Committee Strategic Planning Session on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The NCOP select committees are responsible for implementing the Council's mandate. They undertake annual performance planning sessions for the year ahead to ensure they develop clear strategies and plans to inform their work towards attaining set objectives.

Consistent with previous commitments, we expect a focus on committee oversight activities to produce deeper scrutiny of executive action, ensure more effective involvement and public engagement, and deliver more effective recommendations.

Another highlight is Thursday’s planned debate on strengthening measures to build viable municipal capabilities in the NCOP Chamber.

The National Assembly Chamber will convene over four days.

On Tuesday morning, the House will consider various committee reports. The afternoon session is dedicated to the debate on International Mother Language Day.

On Wednesday, the focus is on the Oral Question-And-answer session with select Ministers in the Peace and Security Cluster. View Questions
