MINUTES
This Ad Hoc Committee had been established on 26 May 2005. The Chairperson informed Members that the closing date for nominations for the position of Deputy Public Protector had been 2 August. He had not been satisfied with number of women nominated for this position. There had been nine male candidates and only one female candidate. After the position had been re-advertised, two more men and three women had been nominated. Mr J Murphy had withdrawn from the list of candidates.
He suggested that the Committee went through the list of candidates along with their CVs to check if they met the requirements. A successful candidate should have been admitted as an attorney or advocate for ten years, and/or have lectured law at university for the same period years, and/or be a Member of Parliament. 18 October would be the selection date for the successful candidate.
